Rengsdorf is a small town on the edge of the Westerwald above the Middle Rhine Valley.


The home of Friedrich („Fritz“) Karl Henkel, founder of the Henkel company (investors of Persil).

Get in[edit]

On the B256 between Neuwied and the A3 Altenkirchen exit.

The closest rail station is Neuwied on the right hand Rhine line. The Köln–Frankfurt high-speed rail line runs near the town, but the closest station on this line is Montabaur, about three-quarters of an hour by car.

  • 1 Bismarck column (Bismarcksäule). 13 metre monument to Reichskanzlers Fürst Otto von Bismarck, erected in 1903


  • As an air-spa there are a number of popular forest-walks in the area.
  • Rheinsteig. Walk part of the trail
