By bus[edit]

First Borders X95 bus runs hourly (Mon-Sat daytime, every 2-3 hours evenings and Sundays) from Edinburgh via Galashiels. The X95 also runs from Carlisle via Hawick.

  • 2 Bowhill House and Estate (3 miles west of Selkirk). Estate Apr - Jun: Wed - Mon; Jul - Aug: daily Sep: Fri - Mon house tours on selected days only. a house built in 1708 with artworks by old masters and country estate with gardens. house £10, estate £4.50 allows return visits same year.

A local speciality is Selkirk Bannock, a round bread made with a lot of raisins.
