With this retrograde edit one of our most prolific and (usually) far sighted editors has introduced without adequate discussion or explanation the following changes in our Aachen article:

1) Internally linked "Germany" contrary to advice to "Generally link only the first instance of a link target" ("Germany" is already linked in the first sentence of the lede).
2) Changed an approved style of tdf format ("25 Dec and 1 Jan; 09:00-17:00" to a non-approved format: ("December 25 and January 1; 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.)
3) Changed an approved style of Units 16 km (10 mi) to a non-approved format of 16 kilometers (10 miles) (Units including wv:aou)
4) Changed "Other churches:" to the incorrect form of "Others churches:"
5) Changed "For Protestant churches in Aachen see also:" to the meaningless incrementing footnote numbered style of "For Protestant churches in Aachen see also: [1]" contrary to xl
6) Changed the approved style of "*St. Michael, Michaelsbergstr. 6 (Burtscheid). Sa 18:15; Su 19:00; W,F 18:00" to a style that breaches both xl and tdf: "* St. Michael, Michaelsbergstr. 6 (Burtscheid). [2] Sat: 18:15 h; Sun: 19:00 h; Wed, Fri: 18:00 h"
7) Changed the approved style of "*St. Peter, Peterskirchhof 1 (20 min from HBf; near bus depot). Sa 15:00 (Vietnamese); Su 11:15; M-F 12:15" to a style that breaches xl, abbrev and tdf: "* St. Peter, Peterskirchhof 1 (20 min from HBf; near bus depot). [3] Sat: 15:00 (vietn.); Sun: 11:15; Mon-Fri: 12:15" since not every reader will understand "vietn.", etc
8) Changed the approved style of "*St. Marien, Wallstraße 48 (3 min from central station). Sa 18:30; Su 09:45, 11:15 (Polish), 16:00 (Polish); Tu, Th 18:30; F 18:15 (Polish)" to a style that breaches xl, abbrev and tdf: "* St. Marien, Wallstraße 48 (3 min from central station). [4] Sat: 18:30; Sun: 09:45, 11:15 (pol.), 16:00 (pol.); Tue, Thu: 18:30; Fri: 18:15 (pol.)" since not every reader will understand "pol.", etc
9) Changed the approved style of "*St. Foillan, Ursulinerstr. 1 (just behind Aachener Dom). Su 10:00, 19:30; M-F 08:30, 18:30; Sa 18:30" to a style that breaches both xl and tdf: "* St. Foillan, Ursulinerstr. 1 (just behind Aachener Dom). [5] Sun: 10:00, 19:30; Mon-Fri: 08:30, 18:30; Sat: 18:30"
10) Changed the approved style of "*Hohe Domkirche, Domhof (15 min from central station). Su 07:00, 08:00, 10:00, 11:30; M-Sa 07:00, 10:00; Sa 08:00" to a style that breaches both xl and tdf: "* Hohe Domkirche, Domhof (15 min from central station). [6], [7] Sun: 07:00 h, 08:00 h, 10:00 h, 11:30 h; Mon-Sat: 07:00 h, 10:00 h; Sat: 08:00 h"
11) Changed the approved style of "... a cinema (Apollo)" to a style that breaches xl: "... a cinema (Apollo [8]).
12) Changed the approved style of "only €2.20 left" to a style that breaches our $ policy by using a comma as the decimal separator
13) Changed "crowned and enthroned" to a spelling error
14) Changed two thumbnail syntaxes so that instead of displaying at the size set in the readers' preferences they will display smaller than the default size of 220px (he set them at two different sizes of 200px and 160px). There is nothing necessarily wrong with setting strange sizes for thumbnails but I wonder if he is aware that registered users (probably with large screens) who have set their thumbnail preferences to display at 300px will see very tiny images. I would welcome an explanation of this strange behaviour.
15) Changed the approved style of "The nearest large airports are Düsseldorf and Cologne-Bonn." to a style that breaches xl: "The nearest large airports are Düsseldorf [9] and Cologne-Bonn [10]."
16) Changed the approved style of "cost €10" to a style that breaches $: "€ 10,-"
17) Changed the approved style of "German railway company Die Bahn" to a style that breaches xl: "German railway company Die Bahn [11]"
18) Added the parameter of "|right|" to a thumbnail image. This is not wrong but does unnecessarily lengthen the code since it is already the default for thumbnails. He also forced the thumb to display at a width of 220px and I would love to know his logic since
a) 220px is already the default for anyone that is not logged in or who is logged in and has not changed their default user preferences.
b) registered users (probably with large screens) who have set their thumbnail preferences to display at 300px will see a much smaller image than they would prefer

None of these retrograde edits make our Aachen article unusable but I do think these mistakes could be avoided by not abusing the administrator's revert tool. If he has a good reason for making any of these changes, perhaps he would care to explain here? (We have a manual of style so that our articles look better and to reduce the likelihood of editors taking offence at what might otherwise seem to be trivial changes). --W. Franke-mailtalk 20:32, 17 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Starting with w:Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/W. Frank for context, then:
That's not to list the countless reversions of the same POV pushing in defiance of policy, with the explanation in the edit summary. --Peter Talk 20:10, 17 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
