Dynamic map[edit]

A dynamic map is not a thumbnail and I can not see where a rationale has been advanced that, like thumbnail images, it should usually be right aligned.

Typically, to be useful rather than just a little keyhole view, our dynamic maps are more than twice as wide as a typical thumbnail (which is 220px wide at default user preference) and this will cause any text to be squeezed in a thin worm at the left hand margin if the dynamic map is not centred (ie alignment=none). --118.93nzp (talk) 21:18, 6 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thin worm? Maybe at the extremes of screen dimension possibilities, at which a map of any size would really never be more than a keyhole view anyway, and in which case a click will give you a full-screen view. However, for the enormously overwhelming majority of maps in place so far, both static and dynamic, we have not found any particular need to gigantify and center them, and I don't see any outstanding reason to do so here either. Plus, there is an advantage in actually being able to see a good portion of the listings and their respective POIs on the map at the same time, without having to scroll up and down so much - on pretty much any size screen, centering such a big map pushes pretty much all the text off the screen.
