I'm kind of wondering where to draw the arbitrary line between "Sukhumvit" and "North". I guess the most obvious marker would be where Sukhumvit's sois end, namely Petchaburi Rd? So everything north of that -- including Ratchadaphisek and RCA is then North.

Now there's a Din Daeng article, should North start from Lat Phrao/Kamphaeng Phet? That leaves Chatuchak and Central Plaza just in North. Most of Rachadaphisek would move to Din Daeng −(WT-en) Woodstone 17:13, 11 Aug 2005 (EDT)

I don't think you can plausibly call Victory Monument/Ari/Saphan Khwai as "Ratchadaphisek" or "Din Daeng"... how about moving this area to Bangkok/Phayonyothin, and using Vibhavadi-Rangsit as a convenient dividing line? Do you mean to rename "North" to "Phahonyothin" (excluding Rachadaphisek) and leave "Din Daeng" as is (including Rachadaphisek)? That seems a good division to me. I mean rename North to Phahonyothin and leave the Din Daeng article content as is, but I still don't like Din Daeng as a name — I used to live there, and I don't think it can be used to cover the entire area that you mean by it. What do you think is wrong with using Rachadaphisek as the name? It's the main street, the one with the subway and the one with all the attractions in the area...

With North renamed to Phahonyothin, renaming Din Daeng to Rachadaphisek makes more sense. The only problem I see is that there is a part of Rachadaphisek alongside the Queen Sirikit Centre, which should not be included. However, since most people (even Bangkokians) don't know that and apart from the QSC there is nothing noteworthy there, this can perhaps be ignored. Ratchada rename

Wish I had seen this thread earlier or been contacted before you renamed things. I don't like the rename to Ratchaphisek district for the sole reason that Ratchaphisek road also runs south of Sukhemvit (around the queen S. convention center the name changes back from being Asoke). I've given people direction before to xxx on Ratchafa road and there has been confusion as to which stretch I was talking about.

The districts N. of Sukhemvit in order are Din Daeng, Huay Kwang, and Lad Phrao. Maybe we pick one of those, or possible use all 3.

Thoughts ???

It was mentioned in the discussion before the rename, that there is a southern piece of Ratchadaphisek along the Queen Sirikit Centre. However there are almost no other significant buildings/activities on that stretch of road and most Bangkokians do not even know it. Directing a taxi to Ratchadaphisek will certainly never bring you to that part. So it is a negligeable drawback. "North" was a very vague and locally not used term. A triple name is not convenient. Reflections

• Reflections, Ari Soi 3, tel. +66-22703344, [1]. This happening two-floor restaurant decorated in kitschy primary colors packs in a good crowd nightly with its excellent Thai food. Dishes from 50 baht, although live seafood costs considerably more. Note that Reflections has moved from its previous location to a new location around the corner, about 300 meters down Ari Soi 3.

Praise

This is a great article. Whoever is writing the Ari section, did a wonderful job. I'd like to add a restaraunt. It's called Tang-O, it's on Phahonyothin 5, near Ari Soi 5. Actually I'm not sure if it's Phahonyothin 5 or Rama 6 Soi 30, as my address is the Rama rd one. I'm not sure where to weigh in as far as renaming. Could you call this part of town Phayathai? What about making small articles and naming them after the BTS naming conventions? Also, I am in this area if anyone needs any groundwork done. Ta! I lived in Ari for a while and loved it, and even wrote about it for an in-flight rag (story here).

As for district naming, this has been debated before, but to me Phayathai is the bit of Phahonyothin south of Victory Monument near the BTS station the same name. (WT-en) Jpatokal 05:15, 9 May 2008 (EDT)

By its name may sound friendly-pricing, but de facto, the price there is 2-3 times more expensive than supermarkets, for the same quality of products. I'd recommend that it would be the last place for backpackers to buy food. Tops, Carrefour or Villa Market is much better.

Inaccurate map

Huh? Take a look at the website -- every word of that description still applies. The warning is there to note that, if people have read eg. the glowing review in the New York Times, the pool is gone and the location isn't in the hip Ari neighborhood anymore.
