Dynamic region map[edit]
After I recently learnt that it's possible to get shapes of regions from wikidata IDs, I decided to make this as a trial for a dynamic region map. I traced the most important train lines and shaded all the cantons and lakes (the missing ones don't have data provided on wikidata). I also added markers for all the cities (although it definitely needs more cities added)
My rationale behind trying this is, that I have been creating static maps for a lot of the Swiss regions, but that it is quite tedious. I am not entirely convinced of it yet, it does look a bit messy, and I'm not sure whether the train lines shown like this without further information are useful to the traveler. But I also think that the fact that it is zoomable is a big plus.
Anyway, as this is a kind of trial for me for now, I would appreciate some input on whether you think this is an acceptable solution for region maps or how I can improve it. Drat70 (talk) 09:33, 31 May 2017 (UTC)
