My visit to the Emigration Museum in Cobh was the first time I realized the outrage of the sinking of the Lusitania by Germany. Queenstown was the "first responder" to the Titanic tragedy, which was the largest sea disaster and loss of life to date. That was an accident.

Very soon thereafter, Queenstown residents were also the "first responders" to the Lusitania disaster, which was a deliberate act, cruelly calculated to murder hundreds of civilians, women and children included. No wonder it caused the Great War (WWI).
