Reversion of previous information[edit]

Contrary to the notes placed in this article when my material was reverted, only the climate box and the attractions were copied from Wikipedia. I should know, as I wrote a fair chunk of the Wikipedia article on Dothan! However, most of the remaining information was NOT "copied" from Wikipedia; I composed it myself, using my own words, based on ten years spent living in that area as a kid, as well as some information on Wikipedia and other Dothan-related websites. If my inclusion of the attractions is incorrect according to Wikivoyage policy (and I would agree that they probably need some work!), please feel free to revert that portion if you feel you must. I mean no ill will here, but I think deleting everything I wrote was a just little "overboard". - (WT-en) Ecjmartin 00:59, 27 April 2009 (EDT)

My apologies then! I did a quick google check of the text, since enormous single contributions tend to be copyvios, and saw that it was coming from WP; on top of that I saw the citydata citation, and thus presumed the whole text to be suspect. Regarding content from WP, you can copy all text that is your own words (as opposed to others', or combinations thereof), since you hold the copyright.
As you are a relatively new contributor, it is reasonable that you would not have known to leave a note on the talk page stating that the WP content was your own, but in the future that is useful to prevent these mix-ups. My apologies especially for not leaving a note on your talk page—I see a lot of copyvios and am just getting sloppy with the follow up. --(WT-en) Peter Talk 01:58, 27 April 2009 (EDT)
No problem! I will have to rewrite or delete the various attractions, as I did not originally compose them and did not realize it was improper to import them here. I can rewrite the ones I've personally been to; I'll simply delete the rest (with regrets, but rules are rules, and I understand why they're as they are!). No problem about the rest; thanks for the information! - (WT-en) Ecjmartin 10:31, 27 April 2009 (EDT)
