Talk:Drakensberg

This article either needs to become a region article or a national park. I'm not sure where it fits in the geo hierarchy for South Africa. Any clues? --(WT-en) Evan 07:51, 6 December 2006 (EST)

The Drakensberg range stretches some 1000km through Southern Africa, from the Eastern Cape through Lesotho (most of this country is mountain terain) , central KwaZulu-Natal (where it has the second highest waterfall in the world), divides Mpumalanga in half creating the Escarpment and the Blyde River Canyon (3rd largest in the world) and reaches up into the southern parts of Limpopo. It is contains a number of national parks, but is not a national park itself. Making it a region will be difficult as climate, fauna and flora, culture etc changes dramatically as one moves from south to north through the range; it is also located in two countries. Best would probably be to make sure that all the info in here is moved to the cities along the mountain range and then to remove this page.
