Talk:Gifu (prefecture)
re: "southern expanse of the prefecture, which houses the bulk of the population and the capital Gifu, is largely rural."
If the south has the bulk of the population, would it not be largely urban, in contrast to the north?
- The north is mostly unpopulated mountains. (WT-en) Jpatokal 14:17, 12 May 2006 (EDT)
No the article is right, I live in the southern part of Gifu Pref, and it is largely rural just like the article says. But the article is weak in one area; it says that since we are a landlocked prefecture, seafood is not prized. Well yes we really like Hida beef it is true, but we also like a lot of seafood. We drive to Fukui pref for the great seafood markets there. We have tons of seafood here in Gifu Pref; it is coming in from all directions. I have never been anywhere in Japan, landlocked or not, where seafood is not highly prized.
- Sure, but how many tourists go to Gifu for the seafood? (WT-en) Jpatokal 21:06, 15 June 2006 (EDT)
