Hmmm, I'm not quite sure how this fits in with our Project:What is an article? guideline... I think it may fit in best as a Do for the nearest town. Other thoughts? (WT-en) Majnoona 23:57, 19 May 2006 (EDT)

The hiking is the dominant activity in the Lakes; certainly it takes centre stage over and above any of the nearby towns, which have largely grown into being service centres for the hikers. I think this is one of those exceptions to the rule, where it does deserve its own article - it is the primary reason for being in the Lakes.
