Removed Sunnyside which is in adjacent Tarrytown. The village of Tarrytown incorporated in 1871, the hamlet of Dearman incorporated as the village of Irvington a year later. Irving, who died in 1859, would not have considered himself a resident of either modern municipality since neither existed during his lifetime. However, in his sketch Wolfert's Roost Irving, with tongue in cheek, lays claim that his home, Sunnyside, is the very same residence of Katrina Van Tassel from his Legend of Sleepy Hollow. In The Legend, Irving describes the location of the Van Tassel home as in the Dutch farming community of Tarry Town. (WT-en) SHC 14:11, 18 April 2006 (EDT)
