This is a great page. Really nice work. I'd love to feature it on the Main Page, if we could maybe get some more lodging listings and clear out that boilerplate at the end. Fabuloso! What a showcase guide! -- (WT-en) Evan 23:02, 17 Nov 2003 (PST)

Drink

[edit]

Some information about Ithaca Beer and Finger Lakes wines really should be added to the currently empty "Drink" section.

Please Project:Plunge forward! Sounds like you at least know a little bit about them, so add the info! (WT-en) Majnoona 23:42, 7 Oct 2004 (EDT)

Disambig?

[edit]

Someone said something about Ithaca and Syracuse. I thought "Is that Ithaca in Greece or New York?". (Syracuse is in Sicily but was a Greek city.) Should we make a disambiguation page?

I don't know; isn't the Greek isle generally spelled "Ithaka" and the Sicilian city spelled "Siracusa"?
Since our naming convention is to the use the most common English spelling of a placename, and the city in New York is named after the island in Greece, there is need to disambigate them as Ithaca (New York) and Ithaca (Greece). - (WT-en) Todd VerBeek 13:03, 10 July 2006 (EDT)

Usable, not Guide (yet)

[edit]

Sorry, but this isn't quite up to Guide standards yet. It's certainly good work, but there are a large number of entries that are missing contact information, business hours, etc. Getting there, though. If somebody is interested in seeing the article get that accolade, go for it! With the content in good shape, it should be just a matter of adding stuff you can find in a phone book. (Try adding a good photo or two while you're at it.) -- (WT-en) Bill-on-the-Hill 08:55, 24 May 2006 (EDT)

  • I agree. At VERY least there should be a comprehensive review of the wineries in the area, as Cayuga Lake (and adjoining Seneca lake). I can think of a half dozen off the top of my head. The gorges of Ithaca certainly deserve their own section, as well as pictures - there are many high resolution photos of the Ithaca gorges in the public domain. Additionally, I'm adding several restaurants that I personally have been to and should be added to that list. A valuable resource for hours and addresses is the http://dining.14850 [dot] com/ website. By the way, I'm going to either remove the mention of citibucks or add an explaination to the wiki. --(WT-en) Edw28 12:37, 10 July 2006 (EDT)

Real estate

[edit]

I've rolled back most of the information about real estate and relocating; I think it's not really useful for the typical traveler. --(WT-en) Evan 16:57, 29 November 2006 (EST)

Chapter house

[edit]

The Chapter House burned down! It's very sad. I removed this section from the Drinks guide. See http://www.ithacajournal.com/story/news/local/2015/04/14/chapter-house-history/25772475/ 24.38.3.30 02:20, 28 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
