What region[edit]

This province is listed in Talk:China#Regions as being in the East (China). It's consequently linked from East (China), and not linked from South East (China). For now, I'm going to change the article itself back so it's consistent with the other articles. If there's a reason to move it from one to another, let's discuss here and on Talk:China. --(WT-en) Evan 10:39, 26 February 2007 (EST)

Yeah, you are right. I think it was originally listed under south east, but that got changed to east. As Shanghai is under east, then certainly Jiangsu should be in that category (WT-en) WindHorse 10:47, 26 February 2007 (EST)

Cities list[edit]

Normal Wikivoyage policy is to limit the cities list to nine of the most prominent. This had 14:

   * Nanjing - the capital of Jiangsu Province and capital to 6 Chinese Dynasties.
   * Changzhou
   * Huai'an
   * Lianyungang
   * Nantong
   * Suqian
   * Suzhou - famous for its classic gardens, a major tourist destination
   * Taizhou
   * Wuxi
   * Xuzhou - Jiangsu's largest city
   * Yancheng
   * Yangzhou
   * Zhenjiang - a major tourist attraction for it`s temples and museums

I'm cutting it to seven:

   * Nanjing - the capital of Jiangsu Province and capital to 6 Chinese Dynasties.
   * Changzhou
   * Suzhou - famous for its classic gardens, a major tourist destination
   * Wuxi
   * Xuzhou - Jiangsu's largest city
   * Yangzhou
   * Zhenjiang - a major tourist attraction for it`s temples and museums

Others can be added back, but please comment here on reasons. (WT-en) Pashley 08:57, 13 September 2009 (EDT)

Deleting cities from the city list in a region like Jiangsu which does not have any sub-regions implies that those deleted cities are not linked to at all, which is not good. The list of 14 cities comprised the prefecture level cities of Jiangsu, which are all major cities. I suggest that we reinsert the deleted cities and instead consider to divide the provinces of China into subregions. By the way, reading the [1] guidelines for regions I do not see a policy of limiting the list to nine, on the contrary it is stated that each city should be listed. I would like to hear other thought on this. For now, I will reinsert Nantong as it is a major city where we already have an article with some good content. Re-inserting for now them is OK with me if they're otherwise unlinked. In the long run, I'd like to see it cut to 9 per Project:Geographical_hierarchy#Dividing_geographical_units. (WT-en) Pashley 23:48, 13 September 2009 (EDT)
Every existing city article should be linked in from somewhere, so for time being, please add them back in. (WT-en) Jpatokal 00:54, 14 September 2009 (EDT)
Done. (WT-en) Pashley 06:48, 9 November 2009 (EST)

Changshu is not a prefecture-level city of Jiangsu.It's a county-level city fo Suzhou.
