Should the old events be removed or, if applicable, new dates for this included? (WT-en) Brendio 20:38, 16 Jan 2006 (EST)

Talk:Calendar of events and festivals says the events for the current year and the next 2 years be added. So update entries if events are going to reoccur, otherwise remove the entry if the event is just a one off thing. -- (WT-en) Huttite 02:51, 17 Jan 2006 (EST)
Should those entries that do recur but for which the date in the new year is not known (either because it was originally entered by someone else or the dates are not yet confirmed) be moved to the corresponding talk page until someone enters the new date? This would save clutter on the article page without losing that information. (WT-en) Brendio 15:03, 17 Jan 2006 (EST)
That is probably a good idea. Though the timeliness of some of the confirmations needs consideration. I think if an event is not on a confirmed date 3-6 months, and preferably a year, out then there is no point in listing as it won't stay around long enough to be worthwile. Alternatively, if an event has previously regularly occured in the month, but the exact dates are only confirmed close to the event or at the last moment, you could put the basic details of the event into the Moveable dates of the Every year section. If the event occurs only occasionally, say every 2-3 years, or less, or moves around, I think it would need to be something really big, like the Olympics or Soccer/Rugby World Cup, that attracts (hundreds of) thousands of people (tourists/performers) for it to be listed. Just being a(nother) concert or performance for one night, or a season, probably doesn't make the grade. It needs to be the biggest tourist event in town that people from all over the place come to see, and if you want tickets or accommodation you need to plan well in advance. -- (WT-en) Huttite 16:27, 17 Jan 2006 (EST)
