Kinkasan = Gold Flower Mountain. Things to do misses the most interesting aspect about this island -- a free roaming troop of Japanese Macaques (a.k.a. rhesus monkeys). I followed the troop of 30-40 individuals around for a couple of days and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Beware -- you will be picking leaches off yourself at days end. Stay at the shrine.
