Newark was a royal stronghold during the civil war. The reference to a parliamentary stronghold is not correct.

I deleted Posh Nosh as, sadly, it's closed. They still do sandwich deliveries to businesses though. - ratgeek
And yes, as I understand it, it was a Royal stronghold.
