Smoki Museum

A friend just visited the Smoki Museum, and posted on Facebook a summary of its fascinating history. From settlers who invented a fictitious "Smoki" people — to either appropriate for amusement, or preserve with respect (depending on your viewpoint), Hopi rituals — arose genuine local archaeology and a fine museum. I think this is a compelling twist, so I added a couple of sentences about it to the listing. Others may want to refine that. If you do, here are some sources to draw from:
