Huge kudos to @ButteBag

[edit]

I've been thinking that Mexico's "Pueblos Magicos" program was really a lot more significant than I initially gave it credit for and that it might serve as an outstanding guide for travelers who like romantic weekend getaways. Lo and behold! @ButteBag was way ahead of me and had already written the core article about it.

I noticed that most of the towns were missing short summary descriptions. I hope I wasn't stealing anyone's thunder by taking a first crack at them.

Again, this article is awesome and I discovered quite a few new places that I need to explore....next trip!

Thanks for the help @Mrkstvns! I just collected what we already had scattered around the site and merged with some MX state lists. I do wish there was a way to suppress the marker numbers. There's a bunch of towns all marked 99 which isn't helpful. Thanks for adding content! It looks great! Keep up the good work! ButteBag (talk) 21:20, 9 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I noticed that those 99 markers are showing up in the Yucatan while all the lower numbers got snapped up in states at the beginning of the alphabet. Even though the number of pueblos magicos exceeds 100, I still think that having markers on the map is useful because it shows the geographic dispersion of places on the list. Suppressing just the numbers might be good though. Mrkstvns (talk) 21:25, 9 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Markers in city list

[edit]

I've fixed the problem of multiple "99" markers by changing the marker type of towns in the "Yucatan Peninsula" and "Pacific Coast" regions to type=orange. That should give us room in both the "city" and "orange" counter ranges to accomodate any additions for several years to come. Mrkstvns (talk) 15:54, 23 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Mrkstvns nice! Is there more than one color? Might look better if we use a different color for each subsection. Eg.. Baja Cali is blue, N mex is green, Central mex is red; whatever more closely matches the map color if that makes sense. ButteBag (talk) 23:14, 23 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
I'm afraid I'm not an expert on how these work, but it would be pretty cool to have a different color for each region. I'll look into this and see if I can learn a bit more. Mrkstvns (talk) 16:32, 24 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
@ButteBag - I found a list of colors here. Unfortunately, not all of those work with markers, plus I can't use a marker color that is the same as the map color for the region. Limits me a bit. I did, however, find a set of colors that gives me different color markers for every region. What do you think of the way the list and the map look now? Mrkstvns (talk) 05:23, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Mrkstvns yeah it makes more sense now at least. Too bad the markers can't be the same/similar color as the region colors. Annoying! Thanks for doing this. ButteBag (talk) 00:41, 24 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
