Hmmm.... it seems tricky to find a reliable source for population. Wikipedia has Ranipur at 400.000 in 1998 (so that would be a lot more today), making it one of the largest cities in Sindh, but I'm not sure if it's correct. JuliasTravels (talk) 23:48, 2 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I was not able to find the reliable source which can tell the current population of the city but thats aside, population have nothing to do here. From a traveller prospective, this place is only known for the tomb of Sachal Sarmast. Furthermore, the tomb is actually not in the city, it is located in a nearby town and I think if there's lodging in that town, we'll have to redirect this article and create an article for that nearby town instead where the tomb is located but if there's not lodging in that town but in Ranipur, we will keep this article. --Saqib (talk) 10:57, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Any way works. Ideally, one day we will have at least some information on all larger cities in the world. It doesn't matter though whether they have articles of their own, or are redirects to another article where the information is. Especially in unpopular places, any information is better than no information for the OTBT traveller. Population and size do have something to do with it, I think. People travel for many reasons, not only to see sights. They also travel to visit family, do business or go to holy places. Pakistan is a good example: about a million foreign visitors each year, but many are of Pakistani descent. Many of them do try to see a few things while they're there though. The larger the place, the more people will come there for such reasons, so the fact that there's a better tourist sight in a village nearby is no good reason to just dismiss a whole city. However, in this case the town looks a lot smaller than 400.000 on google maps ;-) I see at least one lodging option on google maps (Cafe Sajjad Hotel). Let me clear one thing and its worth to add in Pakistan article itself. Interestingly in Pakistan, term "hotel" is usually used to refer a restaurant actually. --Saqib (talk) 11:47, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
