Movies

Is the "Movies" listing really necessary? (WT-en) Zepppep 12:52, 27 October 2009 (EDT)

I think so. Going out to the movies is something that I think visitors often do. Given that there are not that many other things to do, I think there is room to add it. And finding information about movies can be hard. Searching on google, for example, does find the main sites of all three, but it finds other stuff as well that is confusing. And the 2010 phone book, for example, only lists 2 of the 3 theatres (!). So I added it back in. If you really object, go ahead and remove it and I won't add it back in. [BTW, the only other change of yours I undid was to add back in restaurant types. While some may be obvious to most (e.g. "Hunan" is probably Chinese), I thought strange that some have types and some don't. Plus, adding the type makes searching easier. I don't know if this applies to Rochester, but for cities that aren't "tourist" destinations our guides will most likely be used by people going to the area for reasons other than vacation. For those folks knowing about more common activities such as movie theatres, public parks, etc. is definitely valuable. For a major tourism destination such as Hollywood (for example) visitors are looking for more unique sights and activities, so these sorts of listings would be less appropriate. -- (WT-en) Ryan • (talk) • 17:04, 29 October 2009 (EDT)

"Not a tourist destination"? Yeah, that pretty much describes Rochester. Besides people coming to visit friends/family, the vast majority of visitors come for treatment at the Mayo Clinic, and secondly for amateur sports events. (WT-en) Jbradfor 10:54, 2 November 2009 (EST)

I think a few clicks of the remote or the scan button will find this stuff pretty easily, and there nothing terribly unusual about the channel types or news times. It is not a standard section, and doesn't make for very interesting or useful reading for the traveller, so I removed it. I'll put it below for posterity's sake.
