Magic word placement in wikitext

[edit]

@Veillg1: Magic words are kinda like on/off switches for a whole article. They don't count as rendered elements so a magic word with a row underneath it reads as two blank rows in the wikitext (which is then rendered as extra space between paragraphs). So this produces a blank line between the banner and the text:

{{pagebanner|Disambiguation banner.png|pgname=Saint-Ours}}
__NOTOC__

text

(same as if you had typed:)

{{pagebanner|Disambiguation banner.png|pgname=Saint-Ours}}

text

And this doesn't:

__NOTOC__
{{pagebanner|Disambiguation banner.png|pgname=Saint-Ours}}

text

@Veillg1: What are your thoughts on Saint-Ours (Puy-de-Dôme) and Saint-Ours (Savoie) ever having their own long-term viable separate Wikivoyage articles? The way I see it, the chance for that is effectively zero. Maybe 0.001% for either. But I would really like to hear you out on this specific matter. Twsabin (talk) 17:09, 19 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Twsabin - Your point is interesting. Saint-Ours, Puy-de-Dôme, France, already has an article on Wikipedia in 41 languages and Saint-Ours, Savoie in 33 languages (note: Note: the translation should be updated in several cases). The two French municipalities each have a great history that characterizes them in terms of tourism. In my humble opinion, each of these communes deserves to have an article on Wikivoyage. Consequently, these toponyms should appear in the disambiguation page. Veillg1 (talk) 23:22, 19 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
