The best bays in Monopoli

Monopoli is one of the most stunning Apulian cities. Beautiful every time of the year, but mostly during summer, it is well known because of its sea and of its beautiful white old town. Even though it is a very tourist place, sometimes Monopoli is “covered” and put aside because of the proximity to Polignano. Actually, Monopoli’s bays are more and are biggest than the Polignano ones. For this, one reason to visit Monopoli could be the possibility to relax on the beach, with the same unique Apulian sea that you would find in Polignano, and then in the evening take a walk in the old town and in its magical atmosphere. Monopoli’s most popular bays are: Porto Rosso, Cala Paradiso, and Porto Ghiacciolo, and another secret little bay is Porto Verde, which I had the possibility to visit. All these bays are near the city and you can go there by walk, by bus or by car. Porto Ghiacciolo and Porto Rosso are very crowded by young people, there are bars if you need a toilet, to take some food or an iced drink, you can listen to music and have fun. Porto Ghiacciolo is the farthest while Porto Verde, Rosso and Paradiso are also close to each other. In Porto Ghiacciolo, Rosso and Paradiso, you fill find a free zone and another with umbrellas and sun loungers in payment. All the other bays are completely free. The sea is beautiful in all of them, but if you want a smaller and relaxing place you should visit Porto Verde. It is one of the smallest bay of Monopoli and, as there are only a few people that know this place, the sea is clear and bright as in no one else. The only thing that could be uncomfortable is that you don’t have nothing else apart from the sea: no bar, no toilet, nothing. A very interesting and useful initiative is that this year the Mayor decided to put in every single bay of Monopoli a garbage for the separate collection of waste which avoids that visitors threw their trash in the sea. So, give a chance to Monopoli and I am sure you won’t regret it. I wish you will find the bay that suits you the best and have a good summer!
