Former islands

[edit]

Should we include the other former islands? Berry, Darling and Glebe? (WT-en) JRG 09:07, 24 August 2009 (EDT)

Glebe Island is distinctly in the area we are calling Sydney/Inner West, and it really in no way resembles an island, and it is a block of concrete, so on all three counts I don't really think it rates a mention at all. Although if they end up building a Disneyland there, I'll have to eat my words. Darling Island is a destination, but it is best covered in Sydney/City West, because it is adjacent and accessible from there. Maybe a reference in the Get out section would be a good idea. I've never heard of Berry Island, just read the write up on the North Sydney council site, and it sounds like a destination. Probably best covered in Sydney/Lower North Shore though, as it appears quite easily accessible from there. Again, a reference in Get out, or a Understand section may add interest. --(WT-en) inas 19:19, 24 August 2009 (EDT)
Whether we include them there or not they should still be linked here due to the names. (WT-en) JRG 08:01, 27 August 2009 (EDT)
We shouldn't describe or link to a block of concrete just because it was separated by a narrow stretch of water 100 years ago. When someone writes the description of Glebe Island as a visitor attraction of any kind, then sure we can link to it. This is interesting history but we need to be careful we don't stray into encyclopaedic stuff here --(WT-en) inas 16:40, 27 August 2009 (EDT)
I've mentioned all three in Get Out, with links where appropriate. --(WT-en) inas 19:00, 27 August 2009 (EDT)
Good work. I'm happy with that. We don't need to mention any more. (WT-en) JRG 02:22, 12 September 2009 (EDT)
