[edit]An attraction rather than a destination. I have copied the text here to the nearest town, Lijiang, which was the only page linking to this. (WT-en) Pashley 09:59, 9 November 2006 (EST)
- Is there any chance that this thing could be a multi-day trek, with overnight stays along the way, and therefore possibly defensible as an itinerary? I'm not familiar with it. -- (WT-en) Bill-on-the-Hill 10:08, 9 November 2006 (EST)
- Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiger_Leaping_Gorge says its only 15 km long. However, according to another site http://www.passplanet.com/china/sw/tiger_lg.htm there are guesthouses on the route. Perhaps it could become an itinerary, but I'd say delete unless someone wants to do that work. (WT-en) Pashley 19:24, 9 November 2006 (EST)
- Redirect to Lijiang. -- (WT-en) Ryan 17:54, 10 November 2006 (EST)
- I now realise I was wrong above. This clearly deserves its own article. (WT-en) Pashley 06:53, 31 March 2008 (EDT)
Demands for Money
[edit]The description, under Annoyances, of people all over the place constantly asking for money fortunately does not fit with my personal experience in May/June 2011. Perhaps it's changed, or depends on the season, but I hiked the whole thing (and took trips down to the river) and, once on the trail, I had only one encounter in which someone pushed for payment--this was in return for permission to take a photo from a certain ridge. There were maybe two very casual offers for a horse or donkey ride (offers made as they passed by), but that was it. Yes, also btw, some Chinese nationals (on vacation, not locals) looked very concerned when they learned I was hiking it, and they warned me it could be very dangerous. --j. blackmon
