This template presents a concise summary at the discussion threads that have reached a consensus, making it easier to browse a talk page and determine what decisions have been reached. Some guidelines for usage:

  • Do not add this template to the thread until consensus has been reached. If you are unsure if a consensus has been reached then ask first ("I think we have a consensus to do X. Would it be OK if I tagged this discussion accordingly?")
  • Be sure to summarize the discussion in 1-4 sentences using the "summary" parameter. The summary should include enough detail that someone reading it will have a general understanding of the issues raised and the consensus that was reached.
  • If there is a follow-up action as a result of the consensus, use the "action" parameter ("action=Policy page updated to reflect the new understanding").

Usage

Note that the "action" parameter is optional, but should always be specified if there was a change made as a result of the consensus decision.
