Uitgeest is a village in North Holland in the Netherlands.

Uitgeest was the birthplace (in 1550) of Cornelis Corneliszoon, inventor of the wind-powered sawmill.

Get in[edit]

The village has a train station and an excellent bus service that provides access to neighboring areas and Amsterdam. The train station is served by four trains per hour.

There are two waterways connecting the Uitgeestermeer (translates as Uitgeester-Lake). From Alkmaar you take the canal (Noord-Hollandsch Kanaal) southbound. From Amsterdam you take the Zaan river northbound and via the Stierop to this lake. The marina closest to Uitgeest is called Water Sport Centrum Uitgeest and is a ten minute walk to the lovely city center.
