I live to travel.

Picture this: 1999. I'm alone in a train compartment heading east from Bratislava or Vienna towards Budapest. The September sun is glowing in the fields and all I can see from the window is green, blue, gold... I have a bottle of mineral water and a book, and I'm making dinner plans in my head

First, I'll find an ATM to get some forints, and deposit my faithful black canvas backpack in a room somewhere (it's Chinese army surplus, not one of those huge Gore-Tex monstrosities). I'll take the metro to Moskva tér for dinner: usual place, usual order

After collapsing into sleep, I'll wake up and head to the thermal baths. A good soak and a manicure at the Gellert Hotel will make all the difference in the world (I'm growing soft in my old age). Though I can't wait to get back to Berlin and give my clothes their own bath in Persil. Mmmm. Persil. I'll take it over Tide anyday

I've been to Czestochowa, Poland, but not Montreal. I can tell you where to find the best wine cellar in Southern Moravia. Yeah. I'm a Eurotrash girl. What's your point?

You'll find my contributions so far under Berlin, Bratislava, Budapest, Munich, Prague and Vienna. Much of the material was developed for a paid-for-but-never-published contract writing / editing job I did in 1999, so my apologies for outdated information.
