Polish is spoken by the people from Poland. It is a West Slavic language closely related to Czech and Slovak, and more distantly related to Russian. It retains the nasal sounds lost in other Slavic languages, writing them with an ogonek or "little tail" attached to vowels. It is also noted for its consonant clusters with similar-sounding affricates and fricatives, some of which sound easier for a rattlesnake to say with its tail than a human with his mouth.

How to pronounce After you know how to pronounce letters and digraphs, in general you just pronounce all letters as you see them. Emphasis is usually on the second syllable from the end, and in foreign words on the third syllable from the end.

• In Polish decimal point is comma (,) and space is (eventually) used as a thousand separator.
• Negative sign is before the number
• Polish nouns have a paucal form, used with 2, 3, and 4, as well as singular and plural. So jedna minuta, dwie minuty, trzy minuty, cztery minuty, pięć minut.
• Currency symbol zł (Polish ZLOTY - polski złoty - PLN) goes after a number

Hour in Polish says as ordinal number, minutes not.
2:37 would be "second - thirty-seven" (druga trzydzieści siedem)

Normally (on the street) 12 hour clock is used. When there is need to specify AM or PM often 24 hour clock is used. Alternatively time of the day can be specified:

• 10.00 AM - 11.59 AM -- ____ przed południem (before noon)
• 12.00 PM            -- w południe (at noon)
