Origin of the name of Park Avenue avenue du Parc draws its name due to the fact that it partly follows Mount-Royal park, between Pine Avenue and Mount-Royal Avenue. The name of Park Avenue was allocated to it in 1883 and it was only in 1961 that they were officially allowed to translate this name into avenue du Parc. This toponym remains one of the rare exception in Montreal where both specific French and specific English remain in use.
