56independent is known for being one of the more abrasive characters in any internet community; this is a result of neurodivergency and is being worked on. He features 17 years of age and thus regularily risks his life on a high-speed e-bike. He lives in Spain/Catalonia (he refuses to form an opinion on the matter) despite being British and barely knows the language (which is being worked on).

Regions

[edit]

I occupy a lot of the internet. (contributions are now known as "population density")

  • Minetest Forums City - The place i argue over stuff going on in one of my favourite games
  • Wikipedia City - The place i go to remove bad English
  • Gitlab City - The place i go to do the coding
  • Autonomous farming regions of Wikivoyage and Wikicommons - Barely any presence; i do like Wikivoyage for teaching me about countries in a friendly way which isn't all "1765 - country does x boring thing, 2011 - Country does y thing about 2008 crisis"
  • Various islands - Little is done there

Understand

[edit]

Hi! I'm 56independent, otherwise known as 56i! As a pedant lacking the effort needed to write pages, i'll mostly be nit-picking pages and making flow better wording. I am a native English speaker but i let loose in edit messages to show an example of what i mean.

I'm the wrong person to write about my local town, but if you write it and get something wrong, i'll remove the wrong.

I was born in 2006 in Wales, a rather nice place to be born at the time. I learnt Welsh but then moved to England, where i forgot it (all too bad now i can't contribute to Welsh wikivoyage).

When the UK left the EU and i got tired of the political system, we as a family moved to Spain in 2022 to go back to the EU. I take pride in the fact that whilst my family needs expensive air conditioning to survive here i can just sit in the rest of the house, away from the commotion.

Talk

[edit]

I speak English, some Russian (but i'm not good at spelling and it'd take me a lot of effort to read), and some Spanish.

I like using JavaScript. It's a widespread cross-platform language that's fun and easy, especially when paired with HTML and CSS and Bootstrap and Jquery and a hundred other tools i like to use. I also know Python, Lua (which i use for Minetest systems), alongside some C (only the syntax; i suffer with algorithms), Ruby (one of my favourites), and a little Java (all too good as every job seems to be soul-crushing Java (i wonder why the job is still open...)).

Personally, i don't like wikitext very much as i find it opaque and it offers too much choice. I prefer to use Markdown because in the future when both wikitext and markdown have been obsolete for 100 years, markdown will be easier to read without prior knowledge. I want to write, not design. If i wanted to design, i'd use HTML.

Plaintext, for me, is always the way but sometimes i want some fancy formatting. Markdown hits the compromise between USING CAPITAL LETTERS and being weird.

Get In

[edit]

To contact me, either use email at 56independent@protonmail.com (i'm a fan of plaintext email) or make a really dumb Youtube comment on a video i've just finished watching and have been looking through the "newest" tab of the comments.

I find Discord's community a bit too weird for me, and i find social media ends up sucking away my time, so i don't use these platforms.

Sleep

[edit]

I usually go for a 1:30-11:00 sleeping-reserved hours, but school might force me to go for 00:00-07:00 instead, which is considerably worse for my developing brain.

Cope

[edit]

As a result of my nature, i prefer direct, simple wording over frivolous fluff in text. You'll most often see fluff in my text when i get angry.

I can be quite abrasive, which is unfortunate. It takes one look at any community i've been "part" of to see how true this is.
