Polignano a Mare is a little part of the city of Bari, is so important for his “grotte marine” that’s not created by humans and his inside could be dangerous, however they are spectacular to see.

Polignano being a sea city had a climate almost tropical with warm winters and long and hot summers, a real treasure for people who hate cold of winter!

n addition to the “grotte marine” another important place of Polignano in the historic centre characterized by Roman remains and a series of churches, among the most important I mention The church “Santa Maria Assunta” that retains the relics Saint Vito, a Saint venerated in the areas near and the “Church of Purgatory” in Italian “Chiesa del Purgatorio” called in this way for the presence of ancient tombs of children, at the inside of this church we can find five wonderful paints including the paint of Saint Michele “protector of the souls of the Purgatory” and others paints that represent others saints, the floor is made by a tile of different geometric forms very colourful!

There is no shortage the religious manifestation such as on 19 March: the party of Saint Giuseppe(la festa di San Giuseppe) with sacred masses and the lighting of bonfires in various part of the city, on 26 April with the parade of in honour of Saint Vito and the most important religious manifestation on 14-15-16 June: the patronal party of Saint Vito where the relics of the saint are transported and a raft in a sort of marine parade, once it arrive in the city the relics are carried in an altar placed in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele where the mayor laying the keys of the city, as closure everything is seasoned by traditional music and popular dancing also with fireworks and illuminations the animates the city.
