Mountain Shepherds Initiative is a community owned responsible tourism enterprise operating in the upper reaches of Uttarakhand Himalayas in India. The company provides adventure tourism services, home stays, lodge and camping facilities in some of the popular destinations in the Garhwal region. For international visitors, the services are offered right from the airport pickup in New Delhi. The popular trek route offered by the company are: (1) Lata Kharak-Dharansi Trek in the Nanda Devi National Park Core zone area, (2) Lord Curzon Trail on the periphery of Nanda Devi National Park, (3) Kuari Pass, (4) Kak Bhushandi Tal, (5) Bedni Bugyal-Roopkund-Aali Bugyal, (6) Gamshali-Damarsain trail, (7) Dodital-Hanuman Chatti, (8) Dayara-Dodital-Hanumanchatti, (9) Mayali Pass, (10) Gangotri-Goumukh-Tapovan, (11) Valley of Flowers,(12) Dronagiri-Bagini Glacier circuit.

The company also offers foundation courses in adventure, bird watching and skiing. The company has its own camping grounds at Kuflon in Uttarkashi and at Kanook, the midway camping halt on way to Nanda Devi National Park. The Devi Darshan Lodge (देवी दर्शन लॉज) at the ski resort of Auli (India) also offers stay and base camp facilities for nature lovers.

As a community owned enterprise with focus on equity and sustainability, Mountain Shepherds Initiative is also involved in the online promotion of the culture and handicrafts of the region. The basic objective is to create online space for the marginalized mountain culture and artisans of the region. The Mountain Shepherds experiment has been documented and reported by a large number of publications such as TIME, Business Today, Outlook, Outlook Business and Equations.
