[edit]Taean is a county on the Taean Peninsula on the west coast of Chungcheongnam-do, Korea, and has 119 islands including Anmyeondo. The county office is located in Taean-eup, and the administrative district is 2 eup and 6 myeon.
The coastline is a long and complex Rias-style coast of 530.8 km, and the depth of the coast is shallow and the lagoon is large, so the tidal flats are developed widely. It is designated as Taean Coastal National Park, and there are 30 beaches with abundant tourism resources such as Kkotji Beach and Cheonripo Arboretum in Anmyeondo Island.
In Nam-myeon, there is Hanseo University Taean Campus with comprehensive aviation education facilities. There is the headquarters of Korea Western Power Co., Ltd., and it has been selected as an enterprise city and is being developed.

[edit]The railroad does not pass. Therefore, if you want to use the railroad from Taean, you should go to Hongseong-gun or Yesan-gun, the next neighborhood, and use the Janghang Line. Since the highway is not directly connected, you have to pass through Hongseong-gun or Seosan-si. However, it is fortunate that Route 32, which connects Taean-eup to Seosan-si, consists of a diamond-shaped three-dimensional intersection on four round-trip lanes, and can move quickly to Seosan IC. Moreover, Taean-gun is the only mainland (land) local government that has no plans to build either a railroad or a highway.
Traffic congestion occurs frequently due to a large number of tourists flocking to Taean during the summer vacation season, but during the off-season, when the number of tourists decreases significantly, the need to build a railroad is low due to the small population of Taean-gun itself, and the need to build a railroad is low enough to cover the current National Highway 32. On top of this, Taean-gun is not easy to get out of other areas through Taean-gun due to the topographical problem of the peninsular edge, so it is necessary to make Taean-gun as a destination in order to create a route, and then the route itself is less likely to be realized because it has to be built while only looking at the demand of Taean-gun and Seosan-si. Even Dong-gu, Ulsan Metropolitan City, where railways are difficult to enter due to topographical problems similar to Taean-gun, was once included in the light rail plan.
National Route 32, which is based on Mallipo Beach, passes through Taean-gun from east to west, and there is National Route 77, which overlaps with National Route 32, through Anmyeondo Island, to Seosan. Since Taean has many famous coastal tourist attractions, traffic increases tremendously during the summer vacation season, especially National Route 77 from Taean to Anmyeondo Island and National Route 32, which enters Manripo, were both two-lane roads in the past, causing serious traffic congestion in summer, and there were many accidents due to narrow roads and linear problems. As the road itself passed through Taean-eup, the speed slowed down a lot, forcing tourists and vacationers to feel uncomfortable. As a result, discussions on expansion and linear improvement have been steady since the late 1990s, when demand increased in earnest, and the 2002 Anmyeondo International Flower Expo began to expand from National Route 32.
