Hi! My name's D'Arcy (or, as a hobbit/nerd, Lôthó Bôffïn), and I'm a 22-year old male of unidentified gender residing Queanbeyan, NSW - also known as "Struggle-town" due to its ridiculously close proximity to the Australian Capital Territory and Canberra therein, which has over the years adversely impacted the economic prospects of the town (read: lots of "for lease" signs on the so-called "main street").
Until the Wikimedia Foundation opted to place a banner on Wikipedia's main page - which immediately enticed me, I must say, so good effort there gals and guys! - I had honestly never even heard of this project. As aforementioned, the banner and the quite gorgeous little logo drew me in, and after perusing a few policy and introductory pages to get a feel for the place, I promptly concluded that Wikivoyage was an exceptional idea - and was no doubt born of necessity, considering some of the content-related disputes and discussions over at Wikipedia (where I am also Psychonavigation).
So, I'm here. I haven't done much travelling myself - my parents took me and my sister to Bali when we were toddlers, then later to Montréal and Toronto (loved both!), Chicago (rather dreary, but some gorgeous architecture), London (amazing) and Colchester (the English countryside has no parallel), then across the channel to Paris (underwhelming, I must say, though I was only 7). In year 9 I accompanied other students in my German class, as well as three of the language teachers, to Germany via Vienna. It was absolutely riveting and staggeringly beautiful, and instilled in me a profound affinity with Europe and European culture, art and history. We visited Berlin, München, Dresden (my favourite of the lot), Köln and finally Bonn, as well as several smaller villages which were ineffably stunning, each with their own distinctive atmosphere. When - and if - I get the financial means to do so, I will certainly be returning to Deutschland (über alles!). So, as I've remained in Australia since then, I'll limit my contributions to my extenive knowledge of townships and cities in South-Eastern and South-Western NSW, as well as information concerning my home town and its neighbour, Canberra.
♥PEACE AND LOVE♥ :)
