Emishan City, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Sichuan Province, is located in the south of Sichuan Province and the northwest of Leshan City. It is located on the southwest edge of Sichuan Basin, near the west Sichuan Plain in the northeast and the Liangshan Mountain in the southwest. It is a subtropical humid monsoon climate, adjacent to 6 districts and counties, with a total area of 1183 square kilometers. As of June 2023, Emeishan City has jurisdiction over 2 subdistricts, 10 towns and 1 township. By the end of 2023, the registered population of Mount Emei is 420,01 people.

By bus

From Leshan Bus Station the bus ride should cost ¥8, or there is bus 601 for ¥5. The journey takes around an hour.

From Chengdu there are frequent bus from Xinnanmen Bus Station for ¥34 (as of Mar 2018).

Buses are convenient. From the long distance bus station, catch bus 1 and then bus 5 to get to Baoguo and vice versa.

Emei Wushu Emei Wushu is the general name of the martial arts that originated in Mount Emei and spread widely throughout Sichuan and even southwest China. Emei Martial Arts originated in Mount Emei, has a history of nearly three thousand years, more than 80 schools, boxing types, boxing ways, as one of the three major schools of Chinese martial arts. Emei Wushu promoted its own development by blending with the Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism culture of Emei Mountain.

Emei white wax production and processing technology Emei white wax production and processing technology, the late Sui and early Tang dynasties, the king of medicine Sun Simiao created Emei white wax. Mainly distributed in Suishan, Chuanzhu, Huangwan, Shuangfu, Gaoqiao, Luomu and other 500-900 meters of hills and mountains. Production and processing technology is divided into two stages of production and processing. The production methods are: seed selection and management, collecting the trees, preparing the tung leaves, timely hydamete and small hydamete, hanging the moss in the bag, measuring the branches evenly, reasonable rod lifting, comprehensive management, picking wax flowers. In the production process, seed selection is the key, processing methods are: preparation, boiling wax, rinsing wax rice, chuai second wax. Due to historical habits and other reasons, Emei white wax production has been local materials, a household cooking stove processing best-selling at home and abroad.

Mount Emei Buddhist music The Buddhist music of Mount Emei is an integral part of Chinese religious music. In the Eastern Han Dynasty, Buddhism was introduced to Mount Emei, and after the third year of Longan in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (399), Buddhist music was introduced to Mount Emei by the Buddhist monk Hui Chang. "Mount Emei Buddhist Music" is reflected in all kinds of Buddhist activities. Besides singing, the Buddhist songs are also accompanied. The accompanying instruments are clang, hinge, wooden fish, drum, qing, qing, two houses, bell, flute and so on. The number of accompanying instruments used depends on the type of singing, sometimes all are used, and sometimes only one or two are used.
