Hello, Spottacus! Welcome to Wikivoyage. You can edit your preferences to change how the software works for you. Please take a second to look at our copyleft and policies and guidelines, but feel free to plunge forward and edit some pages. Scanning the Manual of style, especially the article templates, can give you a good idea of how we like articles formatted. If you're new to our wiki software, MediaWiki, look at the Wiki markup to get an idea of how to edit a page. If you need help, check out the help desk, and if you need some info not on there, post a message in the travellers' pub.

Nine Cities[edit]

Nine cities isn't a hard and fast rule, but it's the default upper limit. See Wikivoyage_talk:Region_article_template#How_many_is_nine. for an recent attempt to hash it out. As (WT-en) someone said there, "7±2 is a rule of thumb that should be balanced against other criteria, not an iron edict to be obeyed above all others." If we don't enforce it, though, people will start adding their favorite cities and pretty soon the list will be 11, 12, 23... -- (WT-en) Jonboy 16:04, 15 January 2007 (EST)

I'd like to suggest that if only nine cities can be listed, then suburbs in the Twin Cities metropolitan area be dropped in favor of outstate cities that serve as regional centers or that have cultural or historic significance. Specific to this instance, I would like to substitute Pipestone for Roseville, since Roseville's most significant attractions are a freeway and a shopping mall, while Pipestone is a county seat and the site of a national monument. Sounds good! Go ahead and make the change! --(WT-en) Jonboy 23:14, 21 February 2007 (EST)

isIn[edit]

For future reference, to "move" Moorhead, I just had to change {{isIn|Cass_County_%28North_Dakota%29}} to {{isIn|Northwestern_Minnesota}}. Also, it's good to sign your posts on talk pages with --~~~~. --(WT-en) Jonboy 23:09, 21 February 2007 (EST)

Adding an image[edit]

Take a look at Project:How_to_add_an_image. Download [1] to your computer, then upload it to Wikivoyage Shared. --(WT-en) Jonboy 19:01, 23 March 2007 (EDT)

Hi, you removed the links to these two articles from Southern Minnesota, which of the Minnesota sub regions (Twin Cities, Northwestern Minnesota, Northeastern Minnesota, Southern Minnesota) should they go into? Please could you either add them or let me know? Thanks. -- (WT-en) Tim 19:13, 30 March 2007 (EDT)

Hope you don't mind, I've had a go at this:
I got the county info from Wikipedia and the regions from [2] ~ 61.91.191.4 22:08, 30 March 2007 (EDT)
Looks like someone beat me to it. I have more than one million miles of commercial driving under my belt (mostly in Minnesota) and I have never heard of Frost before. I added a couple of different towns - I think they were New Ulm and Redwood Falls. I'll add some info for each of those towns tomorrow if I can find the time. I hate red links.(WT-en) Spottacus 03:05, 31 March 2007 (EDT)
Sounds like Frost is a small place - WP says "population was 251 at the 2000 census". ~ 61.91.191.4 05:40, 31 March 2007 (EDT)

Formatters 'R us[edit]
