Welcome, Anca
[edit]Hello! Welcome to Wikivoyage. Please take a sec to look at our copyleft and policies and guidelines, but feel free to plunge forward and edit some pages. Scanning the Manual of style, especially the article templates, can give you a good idea of how we like articles formatted. If you need help, check out Project:Help, and if you need some info not on there, post a message in the travellers' pub. --(WT-en) Evan 19:30, 19 Jan 2004 (EST)
Romanian articles (reply)
[edit]Thanks for the quick response - that's OK if you can't write Romanian all that well, and we'd appreciate your help with translating articles from Romanian to English. Other than that, thanks for your help, have a good time at Wikivoyage and most of all, have fun! (WT-en) Ronline 22:36, 19 Jan 2004 (EST)
Czechia translation/Tirana
[edit]Thanks again Anca for involving yourself with Wikivoyage - it's good to see Romanians from all parts of the world in this project, especially since now the Romanian Wikivoyage is becoming a source of articles for the English Wikivoyage. By the way, the article on English Wikivoyage on Tirana (at Talk:Tirana/To translate) needs translation from Romanian to English. I'm working on it, but if you have some spare time or would like to work on it too, feel free too. Cheers, (WT-en) Ronline 03:00, 30 Jan 2004 (EST) (PS: Have you been to Cluj recently?)
Approach to translation
[edit]My personal approach to translations is that they should maintain roughly the same information, but other than that, it would be great to make them more natural to English speakers (by the addition of things such as idioms, language-particular usage, etc.) and also more relevant to the English Wikivoyage. Also, it's absolutely fine (and much appreciated :-) if you go ahead and translate any article from Romanian - the latter approach that you mentioned is what I prefer too! Hi Anca,
[edit]I noticed your great contributions to Wikivoyage and also how you are such an avid traveler (I just went to South Lake Tahoe, and I also love snowboarding). I just wanted to invite you to a new free travel planning website located at TripTie.com. TripTie is very web 2.0 where people can edit any of the information, yet also very different from Wikivoyage, in the sense that TripTie serves as a trip planning website that allows users to customize and edit itineraries, item descriptions and upload photos. We are currently in beta right now, but you can email me at karl@triptie.com and I will be happy to send you an invitation into the beta, or feel free to go to the website and invite yourself. Please check us out, I would love to know what you think of our website.
Thanks so much,
Karl Sung
