Add topicWelcome to Wikivoyage!
[edit]Hi Ken! As it is now apparenty you aren't a bot....
I thought I'd just drop by and welcome you to Wikivoyage. If you want to specialize your experience you may want to consider editing your preferences.
Please take a second to look at our copyleft and policies and guidelines, but feel free to plunge forward and edit some pages. Scanning the manual of style, especially the article templates, can give you a good idea of how we like articles formatted. If you're new to the whole wiki software look at the wiki markup to get an idea of how to use the wiki markup.
If you need help, check out Project:Help, and if you need some info not on there, post a message in the travellers' pub or on my talk page . -- (WT-en) Tim 08:46, 24 January 2007 (EST)
Hi Ken!
The reason I deleted your edit on South Africa#Sleep is that it is against our external links policy. The reason I deleted just yours, and not the other link above it, is because when you made that edit I saw that you were adding something that wasn't allowed, and as I am admin I have a button that I can use to undo your edit. I apologise for deleting just yours and not the other link, I am quite busy and if I read all the pages I revert I would get far less done!
Unfortunately, it appears that we can't work with your site, so please do not add links onto wikivoyage to your site, as you will be wasting your time - they will be removed almost immediately. However, it would be great if you could personally contribute and help us reach our goals. -- (WT-en) Tim 08:46, 24 January 2007 (EST)
- Thanks for pointing out the Timeshare link. That has been removed from our site as you will now see! There is absolutely no way that Wikivoyage can work with your site. It isn't a case of whether the site is good or not, but more a case of it being a completely different thing to what we are trying to achieve here. We are trying to make a good, free and impartial travel guide. We don't want to link to other directories because that is what Wikivoyage should be as part of being a travel guide. Our copyright licenses are also incompatible, so information cannot be shared between. If you notice, the only websites we link to in our articles are 1st party sites, Wikipedia, W66 (our sister site) and Dmoz. Nothing else will be linked to, and if it is, then it gets removed from our site. Sorry about this, but that is the letter of the law and we would be harming Wikivoyage if we stopped adhering to it and started linking to any old website. -- (WT-en) Tim 15:53, 24 January 2007 (EST)
