User talk:(WT-en) HawaiiFi
Hello, HawaiiFi! Welcome to Wikivoyage.
To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Project:Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub.
Thank you for your contributions to our Hawaii articles! One thing to note, though, is that links to hawaiianbeachrentals.com violate our policy on apartment aggregators, as well as our policy on external links. --(WT-en) Peter Talk 23:41, 30 March 2009 (EDT)
- Cute , but if that continues, I will blacklist your site, which is definitely not good for its SEO. --(WT-en) Peter Talk 00:33, 31 March 2009 (EDT)
- Thank you for your reply. Please do remove other agencies that violate our policy on apartment aggregators, but do also keep in mind that we do allow rental agencies that 1) have a real world address, and 2) rent places for less than one week. Thanks! --(WT-en) Peter Talk 01:01, 31 March 2009 (EDT)
- Ah, to be more precise I'll quote the policy (which you should take a good look over—only four bullet points): The agency must have a 'real world' office with a phone number and physical address (not a PO box) where the keys will be picked up, and that information must be included in the Wikivoyage listing and on the agency website. Hawaiianrentals does not, as far as I can tell, meet that criterion.
- There is no rule against linking to your own site, provided it meets the criteria in Project:External links. Napali.com seems to be ok, but only if it is linked to a specific "Do" listing representing your tour. And please only add one link to the site, as multiple links are generally interpreted as touting. Kauaiexplorer.com looks like a nice guide to the island, but per policy, we cannot link to other guides, only to primary sources.
- If you would like to link to your sites on (WT-en) your own userpage, that is perfectly acceptable. Also, fyi, you can sign your posts on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~). --(WT-en) Peter Talk 01:22, 31 March 2009 (EDT)
- Please do add the rental agency if it has an office where you pick up the keys, and information regarding that office must exist on the agency's website (I couldn't find it). --(WT-en) Peter Talk 01:25, 31 March 2009 (EDT)
