Welcome Wikipedian

[edit]

Hello Wikipedian!

Welcome to Wikivoyage. I see you are a Wikipedian, so you might notice a few differences. Please take a sec to look at our copyleft and policies and guidelines, but feel free to plunge forward and edit some pages. Scanning the Manual of style, especially the article templates, can give you a good idea of how we like articles formatted. If you need help, check out Project:Help, and if you need some info not on there, post a message in the travellers' pub.

Thank you for contributing, but we do thing different then Wikipedia. The articles you are renaming are not to our standard. Thanks for your contributions, but please take some time to review how we are different. -- (WT-en) Tom Holland (xltel) 18:49, 15 December 2006 (EST)

Style questions

[edit]

I answered your questions on the Morazan talk page, but I figured I'd try to catch you here, too. You may want to start with our manual of style, which covers a lot of our writing and formatting guidelines. In particular, we try to keep the prose tight and compact -- people are going to be carrying these guides around in their backpacks, after all. We don't have a strictly neutral point of view for Wikivoyage -- here, the traveller comes first, and we try to think of our readers' practical needs ahead of others'. We do try to be fair, though. In any case, we ask that contributors don't tout -- we're writing guides for and by travellers, not promotional brochures. Thanks for your help here! --(WT-en) Evan 22:57, 15 December 2006 (EST)
