Hello Lectiodifficilior!

Welcome to Wikivoyage. Please take a sec to look at our copyleft and policies and guidelines, but feel free to plunge forward and edit some pages. Scanning the Manual of style, especially the article templates, can give you a good idea of how we like articles formatted. If you need help, check out Project:Help, and if you need some info not on there, post a message in the travellers' pub.

Don't worry about any mistakes you may make inadvertantly. We enjoy your help far more than we worry about correcting any minor problems. So just keep plunging forward! And if you're wondering about the otherguide stuff.... it's cause we'd like this guide to work both for the web and as a printed guide. And when we have extlinks to other guides, there's a temptation to just let the other guide do the talking and then we end up with an incomplete printed guide. And thanks again for your help and welcome! -- (WT-en) Colin 03:32, 30 Dec 2004 (EST)

Note: I copied the above welcome to your talk page so you can edit (WT-en) your user page. -- (WT-en) Huttite 17:49, 31 Dec 2004 (EST)

External guides[edit]

Hi! The policy regarding external links is Project:External links. Basically the goal is twofold: first, we're not interested in being a web directory ourselves (see Project:Goals and non-goals), so we want to minimize links. Second, we want to be a complete printed guide — we want to make sure information is included here and not just linked to.

We do permit linking to the open directory project (see Project:Links to Open Directory) which is a web directory project. The idea there is that if somebody wants a web directory, they can click on the open directory link and get one. This lets us worry about being a travel guide, and open directory worry about being a web index. Open directory also lists other web directories, so your favorite site could be there. -- (WT-en) Colin 23:34, 8 Jan 2005 (EST)
