To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. The best way to avoid the blacklisting, is either a promise to stop adding your business, or adhere to these guidelines;

• Does your buisness have an physical office, where customers can show up with questions, complaints, key pick up/delivery - if so, include the address - if not, you're not egliable for inclusion, small business owner or not.
• If you do have an office, remember to include price ranges, what can visitors expect to pay per night: a useful way is to include price ranges for low/high season.
• If amenities differ between the properties don't include them in the description, but you are welcome to state a minimum standard if you have one.
• We don't include agencies that only book weekly deals etc.

If you can nod to the requirements above, what we like to see is something like this.

• <sleep name="Taylor Made Deep Creek Vacations " alt="" address="550 Deep Creek Dr., Suite G" directions="" phone="301-387-5999," email="info@example.com" fax="" url="http://www.example.com/" checkin="4PM" checkout="Noon" price="Price ranges: High Season: $1100-4000, Low Season $700-2000">This outfit rents out 55 chalets and condos in the Deep Creek Lake area, reservable by phone (M-Su 9AM-6PM) or online. Minimum stay is 2 nights and the agency only rents out properties to families or to pre-approved groups for an extra charge.</sleep>

No matter if you get listed or not, getting the guide up to standard is a good way to attract visitors to the area, especially for vacation rentals, as you can print the guide and include it in the welcome folder if you have one. Thank you stefan..I will follow the guides and just want to contribute to the site as much as possible. I will follow all the guidelines so can you please remove me from the blacklist.

We do have office and I will include the address where renters can get info but we do all keyless entries to the house and everything by email. I will look over the two examples that you gave me and use them as a guide. I will also complete all the dining,things to do on the deep creek lake page. If you question anything that I put up about the area please let me know. I would also like to put up a history area for deep creek lake because we had someone reasearch and write up an article about the area.

I'm sorry, but your business simply does not meet the criteria for inclusion in Wikivoyage's guides. The first criterion listed for apartment rentals is:

The agency must have a 'real world' office with a phone number and physical address (not a PO box) where the keys will be picked up, and that information must be included in the Wikivoyage listing and on the agency website

Your website does not include your real-world office address, and the keys are not picked up at your office. Unless our policy changes (and you may suggest a policy change at the policy talk page) or your business practice changes, your agency cannot be listed on Wikivoyage.

I appreciate the work you put in today on filling out the article. Creating a good travel article here for your town can boost Deep Creek Lake tourism overall, and can lead people to the search engines where they might find your business. Moreover, you could continue working on the article (which will help restore trust in your contributions), and create a user page for yourself, which could include information about your business, and which would register on major search engines.

Ah, I didn't understand what you meant by keyless entry, and I think that's something we might want to have a discussion about. In the meantime, however, I think it will be fine to not worry about the keys requirement. For propriety's sake, though, would you please add your address to your own website before you re-add your listing to the article. I've removed your website from the blacklist, and would encourage you to create a userpage, where you could certainly describe your business and link to it, while waiting to get your address up on your site. --(WT-en) Peter ^Talk 11:00, 7 July 2009 (EDT)

Links to webcams are not permitted per Project:External links. The most basic rationale is that we want our guides to be fully usable independent of other materials, especially since they are designed to be printed and stuffed in your pocket when traveling.

We do all our image uploads on Wikivoyage Shared. To upload images, you'll need to create an account over there and then click the upload link on the left side of the screen. For detailed uploading instructions, see wts:How to upload files. And for help in adding an image to the article, look over Project:How to add an image. One quick word of warning, though—we rarely allow any photos of accommodations/hotels/etc, to discourage business owners from uploading promotional images. Just a quick note to say thanks for your work on Deep Creek Lake, but more importantly thanks for taking extra time to understand some of the site's guidelines. Users and editors here work very hard to keep the site from becoming a mess of advertising and spam, and while many of our policies err on the side of being too restrictive there is hopefully still room for individuals to promote their own businesses while still keeping the guides relevant to travelers.
