User talk:(WT-en) Sailsetter
Add topicHello Sailsetter! Welcome to Wikivoyage.
To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Project:Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub.
Thanks for the good edits to various Greek destination articles, and also, FYI, I responded to your comment at Talk:Hydra. --(WT-en) Peter Talk 14:48, 9 March 2008 (EDT)
- And a hearty welcome from me too — I've also responded to Talk:Hydra, and as you seem to know a thing or two about the topic, you might like to suggest a romanization policy for Greek at Project:Romanization. (WT-en) Jpatokal 15:03, 9 March 2008 (EDT)
Thanks for the comments. I assume I reply on this page (I'm new here.) I'll be popping into wikivoyage occasionally to write about Greece and other places I've visited. (WT-en) Sailsetter 18:24, 9 March 2008 (EDT)

[edit]No worries about the complications—I'm just eager to get this hard-to-object-to proposal passed before attempting anything more ambitious ;) --(WT-en) Peter Talk 00:57, 19 March 2008 (EDT)
Images of people
[edit]I've reverted your removal of images from some Greece articles. As per Wikivoyage:Image policy:
However, in public spaces people give up a certain degree of privacy, which means that they can be photographed (and cannot stop the process). At Wikivoyage, this is generally interpreted conservatively to mean that identifiable people in a picture should be peripheral to the picture content. For example, you can upload a picture of a crowded market or plaza, as long as you could take out or substitute any given person in it without materially affecting the picture. - ...and yes, I just realized that the policy on en: was not in sync with the newer policy on shared. I've redirected them, sorry about the confusion. (WT-en) Jpatokal 11:57, 18 April 2008 (EDT)
- Yes, I think I was looking at the old policy, since I don't remember reading the exception above. Personally, I like the stricter policy better -- I don't think it adds anything to a picture to include a bunch of tourists standing around in shorts with cameras. But I won't argue about it. (WT-en) Sailsetter 12:30, 18 April 2008 (EDT)
- Sure, but it's better to have an imperfect picture than no picture at all. (WT-en) Jpatokal 13:56, 18 April 2008 (EDT)

Greece regions
[edit]Are the top-level regions for Greece in their final state? Or do you plan to revise them more? If they're done, I'll import them to the Russian version. And thanks for all the fantastic work you've been doing on this! --(WT-en) Peter Talk 15:00, 12 August 2008 (EDT)
- (I don't use talk much; I assume I answer on this page, please let me know if you see this.) Thanks for the feed back. Yes, the top level, i.e. this list on the Greece page:
* Attica (including Athens) * The Peloponnese * Greek Islands * Crete * Central and Northern Greece
should include everything in Greece, though all lower levels may still need some more fiddling. (WT-en) Sailsetter 18:02, 12 August 2008 (EDT)
- Great, I'll get those set up on the Russian version, then. --(WT-en) Peter Talk 22:39, 12 August 2008 (EDT)
Is there a place called 'Simi' in Greece?
[edit]Hello. Have you seen this discussion already? Although doesn't containing much, I don't want to delete the content before someone local verifies this place doesn't really exist and should be redirected. Can you please take a look?--(WT-en) Vidimian 07:14, 21 November 2008 (EST)
No, I hadn't seen the discussion, but yes Simi in Greece is an alternative spelling for the more usual Symi, so redirection is appropriate. (WT-en) Sailsetter 10:09, 21 November 2008 (EST)
- Okay. I have redirected the page.--(WT-en) Vidimian 10:16, 21 November 2008 (EST)
Greece regions maps
[edit]I've whipped up a map of Greece, and a map of the Greek Islands. Let me know if there are any errors (particularly with the islands), and I'll correct them, then put them up in the articles! --(WT-en) Peter Talk 16:28, 10 February 2009 (EST)
