Location of the hotels are rarely very relavant when you give an address, most travellers would much rather like to know prices ranges (we usually give this for a standard double room for hotels), check in/out times, if the reception is 24 hours, is the any amenities in the rooms you don't find in your ordinary hotel etc. There is a in debt description of our preferences here: Project:Accommodation listings in particular check out the Eldorado Hotel example, but please don't make it sound like an ad brochure yeah?
And we would appreciate when you start new guides, you did something more than just add the hotel. a brief introduction and 'get in' description would be nice for starters. --(WT-en) Stefan (sertmann) Talk 16:37, 7 July 2009 (EDT)
- In response to your question: First, promoting your business across large numbers of articles is spamming, so this is more a matter of how to spam in a productive manner (i.e., a manner that doesn't just result in everyone wasting time with reversions). Second, we know that your prices fluctuate—this we use price ranges, or at least a price bottom (not including discounted rates...) like "from $110." Third, you have to add the hotels to the price-sort categories of budget/mid-range/splurge—it's just not ok to leave them unsorted (alphabetical order applies too). Above all, though, we are not looking to have a comprehensive yellow pages here, so adding your hotel to a long worthless list of hotels is not useful, and is likely to be reverted.
- A good example, I think, of a well-formatted and useful sleep section is here. This list is not quite as good, but it contains more boring chain hotels, so it might be a better template for you. --(WT-en) Peter Talk 16:54, 7 July 2009 (EDT)
- Another note (I'd really like to come to an understanding where all this wasted time would not be necessary): if an article already has a long list of hotels, make sure that your hotel listing is of superior quality to the rest. Is there any chance I could speak with your supervisor? I know that's a brash request, but I think we would all benefit from some kind of dialogue. We at Wikivoyage have gotten pretty good now at catching and reverting contributions by hotel spammers, but this is not a net positive situation for Wikivoyage or your company—it wastes our administrators' time, and your own, and I've even started removing Marriott hotels from the site prejudicially.

- Yes, they look a lot better today. Just remember not to overdo the "hotel is close to X" bit, and to sort listings alphabetically.
