User talk:(WT-en) William M Goetsch
Add topicHello, Mr. Goetsch! Welcome to Wikivoyage. Please take a sec to look at our copyleft and policies and guidelines, but feel free to plunge forward and edit some pages. Scanning the Manual of style, especially the article templates, can give you a good idea of how we like articles formatted. If you need help, check out Project:Help, and if you need some info not on there, post a message in the travellers' pub.
Thank you so much for the work you've been doing on Pittsburgh. --(WT-en) Evan 15:10, 21 Mar 2004 (EST)
- Hi! Great work on Pittsburgh! You may want to take a look at Project:What is an article? to help you decide when to start a new page or add content to an existing page. The article templates and Where to stick it manuals may also be of use. Or feel free to just keep adding content! thanks (WT-en) Majnoona 01:39, 26 Mar 2004 (EST)
- Hi, thanks for contributing about the Strip District. I noticed that while you were adding to the article on Pittsburgh's Strip District, the page history showed (WT-en) Majnoona had also edited the page. I have now merged her edit with your material and added some headings so it sort of follows the Project:District article template. Please check my changes to ensure I have it right. Other changes I made included putting square brackets [[and]] thus around [[Placename]]s. so the article stops being a Dead-end page -- (WT-en) Huttite 02:35, 27 Mar 2004 (EST)
Are Primanti Brothers at 46 18th Street in the Strip District? Please see Talk:Pittsburgh and Talk:Pittsburgh/Strip District. -- (WT-en) Huttite 02:57, 27 Mar 2004 (EST)
Response
[edit]Mr. Goetsch: I responded to your questions on my talk page (that's the normal tradition around here), but I wanted to make sure you saw the answers. --(WT-en) Evan 13:18, 26 Apr 2004 (EDT)
Another response
[edit]Just wanted to let you know that Pittsburgh/Southside is now at Pittsburgh/South Side, and the links on Pittsburgh now work. That page has bounced around like a pinball! --(WT-en) Evan 09:59, 29 Apr 2004 (EDT)
Response re Disambiguation
[edit]Just to let you know why I thought Downtown should be a disambiguation page. After a search I realised there were already 4 places with downtown district pages and Pittsburgh/Downtown had gone through a couple of permutations of name change, and then someone had blanked the original page and proposed it for deletion. It then showed up on the Dead-end page list - which are pages without links. I thought about what would happen the next time someone else linked to a Downtown and realised the page would just keep coming back, so it should be a disambiguation page, rather than be deleted - that way it would be a useful page. I could see that if one person had created this page, then others would in the future.
Also don't panic if you do not know how to do everything at once. Do what you can to contribute. Someone else will come along later and make it better. Thats the beauty of a wiki, if you do not know how to handle a problem, someone else probably does and can improve on what you have done so far. -- (WT-en) Huttite 03:18, 1 May 2004 (EDT)
