Thank you[edit]

Thanks for your work on Birmingham (England) and Project:Microformats. --(WT-en) Evan 18:08, 25 November 2006 (EST)

Docent?[edit]

Hi Andy

Thanks for your help on Birmingham (England)! Have you considered becoming a docent for the article? If you're up for this, your username goes on the side bar and if someone has a question about the place they ask you. If you can answer them then just integrate the info into the article. -- (WT-en) Tim 15:48, 27 November 2006 (EST)

Thanks, but I'm not sure how often, or for how long, I'll be visiting. When and while I do, I'll have the article's talk page on my watch-list, so will deal with any issues raised there. (WT-en) Andy Mabbett 07:34, 28 November 2006 (EST)

Maps[edit]

OK, I tweaked the maps, adding labels and route summaries to the bus map and changing the pattern of the mainline routes on the rail map (the rest I left alone as the colours don't signify anything particularly important, they're just there to match up with the local rail guides). Hopefully that should be sufficient, but if you think anything further is needed let me know. --(WT-en) Paul. 17:25, 28 November 2006 (EST)

Mapping service[edit]

Andy: you may be interested in Project:13 December 2006. Your opinion on the geo uF would be valuable. --(WT-en) Evan 20:22, 12 December 2006 (EST)

Thank you. I've replied there. (WT-en) Andy Mabbett 06:56, 13 December 2006 (EST)

December 2006 discussions[edit]

I tried to add this section to Wikivoyage_talk:Phone_numbers, but kept getting "spam blocked".

See recent discussion at Tech: Automatic area codes in listings and on its talk page. Note also the hCard microforamt, which allows for telephone number mark-up. (WT-en) Andy Mabbett 18:03, 13 December 2006 (EST)

Template:Coord[edit]

Hi Andy, would you please clarify the purpose of the template you added at Template talk:Coord. --Peter Talk 02:09, 28 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hey again. I reverted your second removal of the experimental tag. It's necessary per Wikivoyage:Using MediaWiki templates to first gain some consensus that a template should be added to multiple articles. Personally, I think an inline geotag template makes a lot of sense, but I don't think the template as it stands looks good. I'll share my thoughts on the talk page. --Peter Talk 18:05, 29 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Please stop denigrating a well-formed and fully-functional template as an "experiment". Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 19:37, 29 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Did you even read the policy page? Again, Wikivoyage:Using MediaWiki templates#New Mediawiki Template proposals. We work by consensus here, so stop edit warring, it's poor form, and may lead to blocks. --Peter Talk 19:56, 29 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
But your edit warring, of course, is perfectly acceptable? Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 23:53, 29 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
See Wikivoyage:Consensus#Status quo bias. If there is a disagreement, we go back to the status quo. (That is also the rationale behind our template policy.) So yes, your edit warring to defy policy is unacceptable, while my reverting to make sure our policies are followed is acceptable. --Peter Talk 00:22, 30 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Andy, it might help to understand that the experimental tag applies not to the template's function, but to its usage. LtPowers (talk) 01:53, 3 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
