Welcome

[edit]

Hello Sephyy! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page.

If you are a Wikipedian, then you may notice some differences in policies and the style of our articles. These include:

It may also be very useful for you to check out Wikivoyage:Welcome, Wikipedians. If you need help, take a look at Wikivoyage:Help, or else post a message in the Wikivoyage:Travellers' pub, as a reply below or on my talk page. Thanks for contributing!

Based on a quick glance at Donghai Island, I have the following additional remarks for you:

  • 1. Don't add bolding to section headers.
  • 2. Always capitalize place names.
  • 3. Never add icons like you did for "Location" and "Time."
  • 4. If it's really useful to visitors to have a section on districts, look at a star- or guide-level article for a model of how to deal with them in an "Orientation" subsection of "Understand", for example, Düsseldorf#Orientation. Don't add numbers or use a format you copied from some other site.
  • 5. And don't copy stuff from other sites! Read Wikivoyage:Copyleft.

Thank you, this is very helpful to me. I have already made the changes, and I apologize the previous version did not meet your expectations.
1. sorry, are the chapter titles like “See” and “Do”?
2. I think I’ve made most of the changes, but I’ll check carefully again.
3. I’ve already removed the icons.
4. I’ve modified them according to the examples.
5. I understand. Sephyy (talk) 04:36, 24 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
yes,please see here Sephyy (talk) 04:39, 24 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
I think you forgot to add a link. In answer to one of your questions: We don't speak of chapters of articles. Articles have sections and can have subsections. See Wikivoyage:Small city article template and Wikivoyage:Article skeleton templates/Sections. Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:34, 24 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
And in looking at that article, I saw right away that you still have a "Districts" section, and the title is still bolded. Also, that section has too much encyclopedic detail and lacks much orientation information. How do visitors know which district they are in, what landmarks should they look for, and what is interesting to them in each district? Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:38, 24 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
I have made changes; please review them now. Sephyy (talk) 07:24, 24 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hey, please stop bolding (sub)section headers! Is this the 3rd or 4th time I've said that? Section headers have two equals signs on each side; first-order subsection headers have three; second-order subsection headers have four. Got it? You can't expect me to volunteer to look through all of your work in detail when it still contains obvious mistakes that I've already addressed repeatedly, but now that I've given you more detailed instructions, maybe you will understand them this time. But keep in mind, I'm not a professor at this time in my life, and it's not my job to review your work repeatedly and in exhaustive detail. I gave you comments and links to read. Read everything carefully and edit accordingly! Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:38, 24 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Here's another useful link for you: Wikivoyage:Big city article template. Even though you're using the small city article template, you're using subtitles, and that template shows you how they are done and look. They look bolded, but look at a section like "Get in" in edit mode by clicking on the "edit" button (but please don't actually edit that page!). Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:04, 24 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
I understand now. When I was editing in visual mode earlier, these titles and bold texts looked the same, but they are actually different. Sephyy (talk) 09:19, 24 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes. I see the problem, and I think we have to work on making that clearer. Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:21, 24 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
