D.C. book[edit]
Hi, I see you created a Wikivoyage:Books page for D.C. I wonder whether it might be useful to include User:Peterfitzgerald/Suburbs, which was a page I created for the now defunct Wikitravel Press Guide to Washington, D.C. I think it's extremely useful for the printed format, but it is somewhat awkwardly in my userspace, since it violates several local policies. --Peter Talk 21:32, 10 May 2013 (UTC)
- I'm not well versed enough in Wikivoyage policies to know what would need to be changed to make it mainspace-compatible, and I really don't know how content is rated on the project, but it looks very good to me. The captions for the images need filling in, and it could use a picture or two more though. Ultimately, at the end of the day those books are in the Community books section, so they should be guided by community policy (which doesn't exist yet), so I'm not sure what to do. Question on splitting books[edit]

- Hi Sven, Your fix to Part 1 does not seem to work. I switched over to parts 2, 3 and 4 and they were still not right, so I reconstructed Part 4 and now all the books contain pages from each other. I may be doing something really stupidly obvious that is wrong, but as far as I can tell, I am following the instructions that I see. It looks to me like the software is confusing the file names. Category:Exclude in print[edit]
Hi, Sven; can you give me more information regarding Category:Exclude in print? In this edit you say that it's being replaced by a div tag, but where is this documented? LtPowers (talk) 14:19, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
- It isn't documented. The person that would need to document the change (me) hasn't gotten around to documenting the change. The information that template based exclusion was going to stop working came directly from my conversations with PediaPress staff. Apparently this is a result of the recent changeover to scribunto/lua, and changes to the parser and renderer that were necessitated by that change. I guess I was expecting to see a talk page comment somewhere explaining the changes so we don't get confused when we see weird things like this on our watchlists. =) I see that Wikipedia still has w:Category:Exclude in print, and it's still populated; is this change unique to Wikivoyage? - This change is not unique to Wikivoyage, however my priority right now is making sure that Wikivoyage is properly set up. That's largely done, but I still need to do some documentation and explanation pages. Once I've finished with those, I will head back to Wikipedia and start fixing things over there. As for the second part of your comment, I'm not sure what you mean by "helper template", but either way, my understanding is that at least right now, the only method that works is using div class=noprint. - I should have said "wrapper" template, perhaps; I meant a template that contained the <div> code so that it could be easily reused (and, not insignificantly, changed in the future to avoid having to edit everything individually). LtPowers (talk) 14:07, 13 May 2013 (UTC)
