Kabak

Really, really great work on Kabak! If you could add a few more stand-alone eateries and bars, an internet cafe (if they exist at all—and the same goes for stand-alone eateries and bars, too), the price for a one-way trip on minibuses from Ölüdeniz, and perhaps directions for how to get to the waterfalls in the valley, we can confidently call Kabak a "guide" article. – (WT-en) Vidimian 16:04, 27 June 2011 (EDT)

Hey Vidiman, I added some things to Kabak that, after learning more about the area, I feel should be included in the article but may also conflict with the policies about grinding axes. How do you feel about the part that I included in 'Understand' about how Kabak has been developing? There is a clear divide in the town between places that want to keep Kabak pristine, and those that want to develop it for mass tourism and discourage the gritty backpacker. Also, I'm just starting contributing seriously...are there any good guides for the more technical parts of editing? Also, I saw you hitched in Turkey too. I'm traveling that way with my girlfriend, and it has been great! (WT-en) Intheback 17:07, 27 June 2011 (EDT)

I think letting the readers know about how the place is developing is useful (and especially so when the place, like Kabak, is somewhere travellers head to escape the concrete resorts of mass tourism), but "accusing" guesthouses directly at the understand by giving names might be a bit out of line. I think instead of doing so, keep the "...Kabak stay beautiful, choose wisely." part and then expand on how the place is respecting the nature etc at the listing descriptions of the places that you think are good (but please keep all the listings—even if you think they are after quick bucks; Wikivoyage tries to address all kinds of travellers, including those that might want to stay somewhere with manicured lawns sown at the cost of a forest).

What exactly do you mean by "technical parts of editing"? Manual of style and the linked policy pages from there might be a good start, but if you have other specific questions unanswered there, please let me know.

Yep, I've hitched a lot around Turkey (and in fact, I'm a native of the country), and it's great to hear that you and your girlfriend liked it. There is another wiki called Hitchwiki [1] which goes into far deeper details on hitchhiking than Wikivoyage, and that might help with your future hitches. – (WT-en) Vidimian 17:35, 27 June 2011 (EDT)
